A Message From Father

Dear Brothers and Sisters at St. Ambrose:

4502 Park Heights Avenue

Baltimore, Maryland 21215

In the Gospel of Matthew we read:

After the Sabbath, as the first day of the weeks dawning, Mary

Magdalene and the other Mary went to inspect the tomb.  Suddenly there

was a great earthquake, as the angel of the Lord descended from heaven

He came to the stone, rolled it back and sat on it.   In appearance he resembled

a flash of lightning while his clothes were as dazzling as snow

The guards grew paralyzed with fear of him and few down like dead men.

Then the angel spoke, addressing the women: “Do not be frightened.  I

know you are looking for Jesus the crucified, but he is not here.  He has

been raised, exactly as he promised.  Come and see the spot where they

laid him.

Yes, He has Risen as he promised.  Our long Lenten fast is nearly complete and we feel the Easter Joy! The promised of

Jesus is Salvation! The promise of Jesus is Redemption! The promise of Jesus is Everlasting Life! Easter is the greatest day

of our year.  Jesus broke open the grave and gives us new life!

We are about to enter into the Holy Week celebrations.  If we are to celebrate fully the mystery of His resurrection we need to experience the fullness of his journey.  Christ’s journey leads him from the Table to the Cross~to the Tomb~to Glory

He walked this journey so we may enter new life.  I invite all of you to enter into this Holy Week ready to walk the journey with Jesus.

Be mindful of what we recall this week: Holy Thursday he taught us to serve as he washed his disciple’s feet.  At the Table he gave us his Body and Blood to feast on while making the journey.  Jesus went to the garden to be alone and enter into prayer Good Friday he offered himself on the Cross in perfect sacrifice.  Come and listen to the story of his Passion and death.  Saturday we have the quiet of the Tomb and Sunday the fulfillment of the promise---NEW LIFE

Join us as we journey this road with Jesus.  Invite a family member or friend to join us in worship.  We have beautiful celebrations planned so come and share in the promise!  We are truly blest this year at the Easter Vigil to have 14 young people baptized, plus four adults come to Full Communion in the church. Come and feel the Glory!

Peace and all goodness,
