Dear Parents,
Enclosed please find the requested new student registration materials for the 2010-11 school year. Parents of students entering kindergarten – grade 2 are encouraged to take advantage of the Catholic beginnings incentive. Register your young child for a reduced fee. See the attached information form for additional information.
Please note that tuition assistance is available on a first-come first-serve basis. You are encouraged to complete the form required by Private Schools Aid Service as soon as possible. Those who do not complete the process will not be eligible for tuition assistance through the Archdiocese. Members of St. Ambrose Parish may also qualify for the St. Ambrose Family Scholarship. Please be sure to inquire. Call the main office at 410-664-2373 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to register your child for the new school year.

Please refer to the Parent/Student Handbook for guidelines on appropriate hairstyles and grooming for all school days and school-sponsored events. Boys are not allowed to wear braids or have designs cut in the hair. Boys may not wear earrings. Girls may wear a pair of small post earrings. No hoops or dangles of any size are permitted.

TUITION AND FEES
Tuition for the 2009-10 school year is $4,700.00. All tuition will be billed through SMART Tuition Management. A non-refundable deposit of $150.00 is due at the time of registration. All fees must be paid in full by July 1, 2009.
Payment must be made in cash or money order.
New Student Testing-
$20.00 payable in cash at the time of testing.

This includes book fee, technology fee, and the archdiocesan student fees.
It should be noted that book fees have been reduced by $90.00 because of our participation in the Nonpublic Student Textbook Program sponsored by the Maryland State Department of Education.
Fundraising Fee
$150.00
You may participate in the fundraising projects or pay the fee - $50.00 per fundraiser which will be automatically billed to your tuition account.
NEW STUDENT AND PARENT ORIENTATION
All new students entering grades 1-8 must take the St. Ambrose Catholic School Placement Tests in reading, writing, and math. The school reserves the right to place students in the appropriate grade level based on the results of this test. Students entering kindergarten are tested by the Title I Program at the beginning of the school year. Parents and guardians of all new students are required to attend an orientation session with the principal and the pastor prior to the opening of school.

9. If Applying for Tuition Assistance, application must be made through the Private Schools Aid Service. Eligibility will be determined and the funds distributed on a needs basis. A personal interview is also required for all tuition assistance applications and scholarship recipients.

GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION
Tuition Assistance: Application must be made through the Private School Aid Service. It will then be determined the amount of assistance for which you are eligible. Funds will be distributed on needs basis. Families must meet all guidelines and comply with all regulations in order to receive and maintain tuition assistance. Every family is expected to contribute financially to the child’s educational expense. A new application is required every year.
School Hours: School is in session from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Breakfast is served at 7:25 a.m. Students remaining after 2:45 p.m. must be enrolled in the after school program. Parents of students who are not in the after school program will be assessed a fee of $ 20.00 for child care services when students are picked up after 2:45p.m.
St. Ambrose Youth Place: An after school program that operates from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.daily and includes 1 hour of supervised recreation, snack,1 hour of academic assistance , and 1 hour of interest related activity. There is an annual fee of $200.00 per student to cover program costs.
Uniforms: Students in grades K – 8 must wear the required school and gym uniforms. They are available through Dennis Uniform Company, 1110 Rolling Road, Catonsville, Maryland 21244 and Flynn & O’Hara School Uniforms, 1300 Goucher Boulevard, Towson, Maryland 21204. Tennis shoes are only worn with the summer uniform and on gym days. Tennis shoes must be white. Neither jewelry, nail polish, nor make-up are allowed.
Age Requirements: According to Maryland State Law, A child must be five (5) years old by August 31, 2010 to enter kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year.
School Rules and Regulations: Each family will receive a copy of the school handbook. All school rules and regulations will be strictly enforced. All new students enter St. Ambrose Catholic School on a probationary basis for the first year. The school reserves the right to dismiss a student for violation of the school rules and/or policies or for consistently delinquent tuition payments. Parents must agree in writing to all school policies.
